Red, White, and Blue Frozen Party Drinks (4th of July)

These red, white, and blue frozen party drinks are the kind of recipe that looks way more impressive than the effort it takes.

Bright layers, crushed ice, fizzy soda, whipped cream, cherries, and a little patriotic ice pop on top. Basically, summer in a cup.

They’re fun for the 4th of July, Memorial Day, backyard cookouts, pool parties, or honestly any hot day when regular drinks feel a little boring.

The best part is that there’s no blender needed. Just crushed ice, colorful drinks, and a little patience while layering.

Ingredients

For about 6 drinks:

  • 4 to 5 cups crushed ice
  • 2 cups red fruit punch, like Hawaiian Punch
  • 2 cups blue sports drink, like blue Powerade or Gatorade
  • 1 to 2 cups lemon lime soda, like Sprite
  • Whipped cream
  • Maraschino cherries
  • Red, white, and blue ice pops
  • Clear plastic cups

How to Make Them

Start by filling the clear cups about halfway with crushed ice.

Crushed ice works best here because it helps the colors sit in layers instead of mixing together too fast.

Red Layer

Pour the red fruit punch into the bottom of each cup. Go slowly.

The red layer should fill about one third of the cup. It gets a little slushy as it hits the ice, which is exactly what makes it look so pretty.

Add more crushed ice on top of the red layer. This helps create that white middle section and keeps the colors separated. Don’t pack it down too much, just gently spoon it in.

Blue Layer

Next, pour the blue sports drink over the ice. Again, slowly is the trick. Pouring too fast will make the colors blend, and while it will still taste good, it won’t have that clean red, white, and blue look.

Top each cup with a splash of lemon lime soda. It adds fizz and makes the drink feel lighter and more refreshing.

Finish with a big swirl of whipped cream, a maraschino cherry, and one patriotic ice pop tucked into the top. The ice pop makes the whole thing feel extra fun, almost like a drink and dessert in one.

Tips for Better Layers

Use lots of ice. More ice means better separation between the red and blue layers.

Pour slowly, preferably over the back of a spoon or directly onto the ice.

Chill the drinks before using them. Cold drinks melt the ice more slowly and keep the layers cleaner.

Serve right away. These are prettiest when freshly made, before the colors start to blend.

Easy Variations

For a sweeter drink, use lemon lime soda between the layers instead of only on top.

For a slightly tangier version, use blue raspberry lemonade instead of sports drink.

For kids, keep it just like this. For adults, the same idea can be turned into a party cocktail with a splash of vodka or rum, but keep those clearly separate from the kid friendly cups.

What to Serve With Them

These frozen drinks go perfectly with burgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, chips, fruit trays, and all the simple summer food people actually want at a cookout. They’re cold, colorful, and a little over the top in the best way.

Storage

These drinks are best made fresh. Once the ice starts melting, the colors will mix together and the whipped cream will soften.

The ingredients can be chilled ahead of time, though, and the cups can be filled with ice right before serving.
